Nice Little Weekend

Just as I alluded to in my last post, we've had quite a fun little weekend 'round these parts!  So!  Let's get right to my lovely little recap, cause I know you've just been sitting on pins and needles waiting for it.

On Thursday evening we went to my favorite local restaurant to celebrate my aunt Mary's birthday and, duh, get some food.  Mike was working, but my brother Charlie was in town and I took full advantage of his offers to help me out wrangling both kiddos--mostly Patrick.  Obviously Patrick is completely smitten with him and loooooovvvveeeeddddd riding on his shoulders.  Notice Patrick holding onto Charlie's ears--my mom told him to do that to make sure he didn't fall off and that's how he rode on Chuck their entire way from getting ice cream to the car.  Ha!

Friday morning we have make-up swim lessons (Monday's were canceled because of the rain) and, it was like Patrick KNEW we shouldn't have lessons that day, because, HOLY TODDLER TEMPER TANTRUM.  This was his first (milestone! ha!) public temper tantrum and it was a doozie.  He refused to participate at swim class, kept running/swimming away from me and towards Mike, the other class, the pool noodles--anything that was not in swim class.  He wouldn't sit on the wall, he wouldn't follow directions, he was just being a two year old, and it was awful.  Mike tried to go in with him for swim lessons and he wasn't having it either.  Oyyyyy.  So, we waved our white flag and made Patrick sit out and calm down (he was so.darn.angry. so much screaming and crying!).  Mike looked at me and asked if we should go to tot time (which goes for about 30 minutes after swim lessons) and said, "You know, I hate to reward him for acting like this, but tot time wears him out and he takes such a better nap..." Yup.  I agreed--so even though Patrick was captain awful, we let him go burn off more energy at tot time after he calmed down.  Just call us parents of the year.  Hoping and praying he doesn't pull the same stuff tomorrow at lessons.  We will see!  Stay tuned!

Rosie, on the other hand, was her peachy little 3.5 month old self all day long and looking oh-so-adorable in whatever I put her in.  We actually had our good friends Rachael and Greg's wedding Friday afternoon, so after we got home from the pool and had lunch, Patrick went to the Mooney's, Rosie took a quick siesta, and we all headed off to the wedding in our best attire.

BUT!  Wouldn't you know it?!  I had fed Rosie right before we left and about 20 minutes into the wedding service girlfriend spit up A LOT all over me and my dress!  YUCK YUCK YUCK.  Patrick hardly ever spit up, and Rosie is the exact opposite.  And it's never right after she eats, it's always like a while after she eats.  Yuck city.  After the wedding we had a few hours before the reception, so we raced home and I washed my clothes (and Rosie's dress) so I could have it nice and clean for the reception.  Spoiler: it was dried just in time!

Friday night was the kiddos first night spending the night away together!  GAHHHH!  Patrick was almost 7 months old his first night away, and Rosie was beating that by almost 4 months.  I was a wittle bit nervous as to how Rosie would do, but was hoping and praying she'd be fine.  For the past week or so she's been going a solid 12+ hours (last night she slept 8pm - 9am!!) at night, so I was hoping she'd do the same at the Mooneys.  Well, she definitely did!  She slept about 8:30pm to 8am!! WOOT!

Anyways, so Friday night we dumped Rosie off with Patrick and my lovely brother Charlie drove us to and from the reception so we didn't have to worry about driving!  Isn't he a peach?!

The wedding was SO.MUCH.FUN.  I don't know if it was because we really hadn't been out without worrying about kids since Rosie was born or what, but we had an absolute blast!  I brought my GoPro + selfie stick, so that was a fun hit at the table, and then the wedding had a photo booth too!  It was an absolutely amazing evening.

When we got home I had to pump...and since I'd had a few adult beverages that night, I had to appropriately label my milk with XXX...cause, right now all my frozen milk has been donated, and I can't in good conscience give it to someone else...so my XXX milk is in a reserve freezer and I'll figure out what I'm going to do with it later.  Maybe mix it with some food to dilute it when Rosie starts on solids, or who knows.  I just can't ever pump and dump!

Saturday morning after we got the kiddos we had a very special visitor come: our buddy Kay Quinn from our favorite news station!  I have known Kay for several years (through Scooter!  Ha!  She started following Scooter's antics and we've become friends!) and she messaged me earlier last week asking if she could bring Strange Donuts over for breakfast and to catch up.  Ummmm, of course!

She is hands-down the sweetest person ever!  In addition to bringing yummy donuts, she brought her son Jimmy who is the nicest 13-year-old I've ever met, and some custom stools for the kiddos!  Oh, and she also brought Scoots (and us too!) some treats as well!

It was so much fun getting to catch up with her and chit chat.  We will exchange emails and such, but it was awesome to be able to chat in person!  We just loved having them over and hopefully we can do it again soon!

Later on Saturday we decided we wanted to grill some steaks for dinner, so we called our friends Adam and Sarah (who just had their little gal Daisy almost 2 weeks ago) to see if they'd want to come over for dinner.  I should have taken a pic of our meal cause it was freaking awesome: beef loin sirloin steaks, cheesy potatoes, corn on the cob, and caesar salad!  So.darn.tasty.

After dinner and right before Rosie's bedtime we took some pics of the two little gals (they're exactly 14 weeks apart!) together and it was just the cutest thing.  I hope our little flowery-named-girls grow up to be great friends just like their parents!  It was so fun to chat with our new parent friends and see how parenthood is treating them and what not.  We definitely need to do this more often with our buddies with kids!

A few more snaps from last night...I absolutely LOVE the one of Mike and Rosie!  Gahhhh, if she isn't the spitting image of her daddy, I don't know what is!

I had posted this pic of Patrick earlier last week--he wanted a pic with his "raffe" and my cousin Jack and Steph saw it (they got him those animals for Christmas) and partnered with their fluffy white pooches Huck and Dill and sent him another set of them!  How sweet is that?!  He was in heaven with his new animals and is obsessed with lining them up.  Rosie likes to play with them too :)

Scoots is obviously too cool to pose for pictures anymore...ha!  As if!  I snapped this Beggin' pic of him with his pink sunnies on, and actually something like this is part of my birthday present Mike got me (well, duh, I know what it is cause I had to order it!) and I can't wait to show you it!  The big 3-0 is exactly 2 weeks away!

We were going to go to the pool today, but it was on and off raining/storming and just kind of a blahhhh day.  So, we elected to go visit Goose at the Pond instead and then run to Kohl's for a few gifts for people for upcoming birthdays and wedding showers.

I snapped this pic of Mike wearing my Tula (for the first time!  GAHHHH!) unbeknownst to him at Kohl's and I think my mama heart just melted!  So.darn.sweet.  I freaking LOVE LOVE LOVE babywearing and the fact that Mike did it once (and hopefully will again!) melts my heart.  I need this pic blown up for my office STAT!

Unrelated, Patrick found Mike's wallet and pulled every.single.thing. out of it before I could stop him, and Rosie is just being her smiley giggly self lately.

So that's about all I've got for our nice little weekend we had!  We are taking Patrick tomorrow night to his first Cardinals game EVER--so I am super excited about that.  You'll get a post allllll about that later this week, promise!

This is my final week off before I'm back at school August 3rd and I'm going to try and make the most of it.  It will definitely be bittersweet: sweet to be back at work, but bitter in that I'm leaving my babies, one particularly who has been boycotting bottles (even from Mike!) if I'm anywhere around and just wants her mama.  That pulls on my heart a wittle bit.  Too bad I can't saddle her up in my bag and bring her with me!

Anyways, have a wonderful week friends!
