Pooches in the Ballpark 2015

Our buddies at Purina and Beggin' totally hooked Scoots up again this year, sending us back to Pooches in the Ballpark at the Cardinals game!  --If you missed my post about this last year, you can read (look at the pics) here.

Can I just say this is one of our favorite days of the year?!  Mike and I get to spend the day with just Scoots--the kiddos get some quality grandparent time, and our first {fur}child gets a day alllllllll to himself.  I'm sure he's in heaven.

This year Mike had the genius idea to use the dog harness and GoPro on Scoots for the game.  GENIUS, absolutely genius.  And I knew his little Cardinals jersey would fit over it, along with his social media @Scooter_the_Dog username poster on the back too.

We decided not to take the kiddos with us--parents of the year here STILL haven't taken Patrick to his first Cardinals game!  Gahh!--more on that later though :)--and just have a game date with our pooch.  So we dropped the kids off at my parents and headed out for the game.

Scooter was armed with his GoPro, Beggin' leash, and custom hat (aka Ted Drewes ice cream bowl I converted into a dog hat).  He was ready!  --And he was live instagramming/tweeting/FBing the event all day long too, so he trusty followers could enjoy his fun as well :)

Scooter {me} posted a little walking to the stadium video on our way and I was IN LOVE with the angle his GoPro was giving for videos and pics!  I was actually giddy with excitement for the rest of the day.

We had to go to the furthest gate away from where we parked to check in, and, not kidding, it seemed like every.single.person. commented on Scooter's outfit and GoPro!  It was awesome!  Again, genius Mike for the idea!

Once we were all checked in, we lined up inside the stadium on the ramp for the pet parade.  This year the parade was a little different: it was still a parade, but they were choosing 3 dogs (out of the hundreds that were there!) who had the best costumes to appear in the outfield on the jumbotron during the 5th inning for fans to vote who had the best costume.  Needless to say, this was a motivation for us to make sure Scootie was all decked out in his very "techie" Cardinals costume!

Once the parade started Scooter pranced around the field like he owned it--so typical.  Ha!  Pretty much how he goes about every other day, cause, read the top of my blog people: we're living in his world.

Here's the 16 minute (!!!!) GoPro video Scoots shot of the parade.  Even if you don't watch the entire thing, watch part of it to see his perspective.  Kinda cool!

As we were walking out, a parade official came over to us and told us that Scooter was going to be one of the dogs in the costume contest!  OMG!!!!  FREAKING OUT was I!  He was going to be on the jumobtron!  AMAZING!  I was so freaking excited--what an awesome day!!

Once the parade was over we headed to our seats in the scoreboard patio.  Three words: IT.WAS.HOT.  So hot.  So much sun!  And SO GLAD we didn't bring the kiddos--they'd have been miserable!  Scooter found a shady spot underneath our chairs--with a heaping bowl of water--and Mike and I chowed down on the all-inclusive food and drinks in our section (that was nice!).

I did have Scoots pose for some dapper pics of him in our seats looking adorable and 'watching' the non-existent game in the background, cause, it's a dog at the baseball game, I HAD TO.

Luckily it did cloud up (thank the good Lord above!) and provided some much-needed relief from the sun, so that was nice.

After the 4th inning, we headed down to the Ford Plaza Stage behind centerfield to meet the other 2 dogs and get ready for the costume contest.  I was sooooo excited!  While we were waiting down there, a guy came over with his son to pet Scooter--the son was petting Scooter, then all of a sudden Scooter leapt like 10 feet (not really, but seemed like it!) and snatched the hot dog out of the guy's hands!  OMG.  It was the funniest thing ever.  The people in the picnic tables next to us were dying, as was the poor guy who's hotdog got stolen.  He even said, "I'm not even mad, I'm impressed" a la Ron Burgundy.  So darn funny.

Anyways, the sky looked oh-so-dark like it was going to open up and pour any second, but luckily we were able to get the costume contest in.

It was so awesome being in center field and on the jumbotron (!!!) with everyone looking at Scooter!  Luckily I had some awesome friends who were at the game and snapped some pics of us on the jumbotron and sent them to me.  How awesome is that?!

The fans each cheered for which dog they thought was dressed the best, and even though all of the dogs were deemed "winners", the fans most definitely cheered the loudest for Scooter!  It was awesome!  Check out his GoPro video of it below.

Literally, as soon as the crowd was done cheering and we started walking back in, the sky opened up and DOWNPOUR.  So,much.rain.

We elected to head home (because someone needed to empty her boobs!) and not wait out the rain delay.

It was such a fun day--we had an absolute blast once again!  Our buddies at Purina and Beggin' are so good to our little furbaby Scoots!
